for another outstanding season of classical music in 2007-2008. WNYCO continues
to build momentum in the community after a successful 2005-2006 season, and the
entire chamber orchestra is excited about the possibilities for the year ahead. Glen
Cortese Conductor/Artistic Director Glen
Cortese is entering his third season as WNYCO's Artistic Director and Conductor.
He is the Music Director of the Oregon Mozart Players and the New York Chamber
Sinfonia, and has appeared as guest conductor with prestigious orchestras throughout
the U.S. and Europe and is a former Assistant Conductor to the New York Philharmonic.

The Turtle
Island String Quartet and the Ying Quartet October 16, 2007 The Turtle
Island String Quartet and the Ying Quartet were the 2006 Grammy Award winners
for Best Classical Crossover album. Their program will include not only traditional
string quartet literature but several pieces from their winning album including
Darius Milhaud's La creation du monde. Zehetmair
Quartet November 6, 2007 Unique in the world of chamber music as they
play all their programs without music, the Zehetmair captured the 2006 Gramophone
Magazine Record of the Year Award with their CD of Schumann's 1st and 3rd string
quartets. Their performance will include quartets by Mozart, Hindemith and Schumann.
Claremont Trio December 4, 2007 The Claremont Trio returns to Buffalo
after a 2004 appearance on our Gift to the Community series. Since then, their
career has skyrocketed, winning the first Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Award. Their
program will include trios by Schumann, Frank Martin and Beethoven. St.
Lawrence String Quartet January 22, 2008 Among the world-class chamber
ensembles of its generation, the St. Lawrence String Quartet makes their third
appearance on our series. Ensemble-in-Residence at Stanford University, the Quartet's
recent tours of Europe, Australia and New Zealand have delighted audiences. Their
performance will include quartets by Dvorak, Berg and a performance of the Mozart
Clarinet Quintet with clarinetist Todd Palmer. Musicians From Marlboro
February 26, 2008 The Musicians From Marlboro perform as part of an annual
event on the series, made possible by a generous grant from the Peter and Joan
Andrews Foundation. The seven performers (two violins, 2 violas, cello, piano
and mezzo-soprano) will present a program including Beethoven's Folk Songs, Bartok's
String Quartet No. 4 and Mozart's String Quintet, K. 593. Aviv Quartet
March 18, 2008 Founded in 1997 by four young Israeli musicians, the Aviv Quartet
has captured almost every major string quartet awrd. Their program will include
quartets by Beethoven, Yuri Brener and Tchaikovsky. Pavel Haas Quartet
April 22, 2008 Since winning the Paolo Borciani competition in Italy in 2005,
the Pavel Haas Quartet have quickly become known to audiences, critics and promoters
around the world as one of today's most exciting young string quartets. Based
in Prague, the Quartet take their name from the Czech composer Paval Haas (1899-1944)
who was tragically deported in 1941 and died three years later. Their program
will include quartets by Haydn, Prokofiev and Smetana. Gift to the
Community Concerts Throughout the season, the Buffalo Chamber Music
Society will present the annual Gift to the Community concerts, a series of 3
performances by award-winning young musicians. The 2007/2007 season will

Huang, piano November 18, 2007 Emmanuel Ceysson, harp February
3, 2008 PERFORMANCES The series of 7 concerts are all at 8pm and
are preceded by a "Chat with the Artists" hosted by WNED's Peter Hall
at 7:15pm. The Gift to the Community concerts are free and held on Sundays
at 3pm. Admission:
