This
red brick, late Greek Revival building, originally St. Peter's German Evangelical
Reformed Church, was built on land donated by Philip Knoche. The
oldest church building in the Town of Tonawanda, it was actively used for religious
services until 1967. It still contains the original plank floor, the original
pulpit and pews, and an organ installed in 1871. It stands in the middle of the
original graveyard, which in turn is surrounded by Mount Olivet Cemetery. Presently
owned by the Town of Tonawanda, it is the headquarters and museum of the Tonawanda-Kenmore
Historical Society. |
