South Park: The Arboretum
Olmsted
was commissioned in the late 1880s to develop plans for a South Buffalo park.
By 1894, plans for an arboretum and botanical gardens were complete. South Park
is a 155-acre horticultural park in the English Romantic style, graced by a sparkling
lake and glass conservatory, now known as the Botanical Gardens.
There
are still more than 200 species of trees in the park.
