ĘBy 1899, the Village of Lewiston decided to abandon the brick school house near
the cemetery on Cayuga St. They purchased a lot on North 4th Street from the Barton
Family , and during the building of the new school, held classes I the old Academy.
The red-brick exterior of the two story building was soon finished, though more
time was needed to equip it with a modern heating plant and numerous educational
innovations. The
Lewiston Union School was dedicated on February 2, 1901 and opened in September
1902. |
