Presbyterian was established in 1817 after the burning of the Village of Lewiston
in 1815. As you come down Lewiston Hill you are able to see the original dome
of the steeple where the church bell still rings. The
church has undergone many additions since the original cornerstone was laid in
1830. The
church has always been involved in mission work of different kinds. Starting way
back with the Underground Railroad.Ê An Elder (Josiah Tryon) of this church was
the "Conductor" in this area.Ê |
