Belmont Hall
was erected in 1928-29 on 125 acres of land on the Niagara River. The imposing
doors and carved beams of the main entrance, the extensive wood paneling, and
the friezes on the beams of the ballroom ceiling speak to a grand design. The
building was purchased in 1938 by the Brethren in Christ Church as the campus
for Ontario Bible School (Niagara Christian Collegiate). For
many years Belmont Hall housed the entire school and still serves as the main
focal point of the campus. In 1989 the former ballroom was rehabilitated with
major restoration of the ceiling and decorative frieze. As future buildings are
added to accommodate the thriving student body, their exterior design will pay
homage to the architectural example of Belmont Hall. |
