The Jacobs Executive Development Center (formerly known as the Williams-Butler
House) is one of the most impressive residences ever constructed in the city of
Buffalo. Designed
by the legendary architecture firm of McKim, Mead and White, the building at the
corner of Delaware Avenue and North Street features a massive Corinthian portico
and distinguished gardens at the rear of the residence. The
interior features impressive woodwork highlighted by a grand staircase. Initially
built as the home of George Williams from 1895-1898 and later the residence of
Edward Butler, publisher of the Buffalo Evening News, the building had several
incarnations as a corporate headquarters. It
now serves as a meeting center and reception facility and is administered by the
University at Buffalo. One
of the highlights of BuffaloÕs "MillionairesÕ Row." |
