Season: | Star
Quality September
12-October 12, 2008 Directed by Vincent OÕNeill Noel
CowardÕs wickedly funny comedy takes us behind the scenes of a new West End production,
revealing the backstage world of talent and treachery. Josephine Hogan brings
her own "star quality" to Christopher LuscombeÕs brilliant and enchanting adaptation.
 |
| The
Cavalcaders October
24-November 23, 2008 Directed by Derek Campbell Set
in rural Ireland, Billy RocheÕs haunting and deeply touching play is a wistful
recollection of the lives, love and songs of a barbershop quartet, The Cavalcaders.
However, hidden behind the harmony and luring in the shadows lay the sins of betrayal
and guilt.

Ah,
Wilderness! January 16-February 15, 2009 Directed by Greg
Natale Eugene
OÕNeillÕs comic dramatization of a young manÕs coming to life on the Fourth of
July, 1906, is a delightful valentine to a nostalgic and idealized past. This
is the third play in ICTCÕs five-year Eugene OÕNeill retrospective.
 |
| Hedda
Gabler March
6-April 5, 2009 Directed by Derek Campbell Controversial,
complex and elusive, Hedda Gabler remains one of the most memorable dramatic heroines.
Catherine Eaton (The Cobbler, Corsetless) stars in Henrik IbsenÕs tragic and powerful
tour de force about a woman locked in frustration and ennui.
 |
| The
Learned Ladies April
24-May 24, 2009 Directed by Fortunato Pezzimenti The
course of love definitely does not run smooth in Richard WilburÕs scintillating
translation of MoliereÕs clever and witty comedy. Fortunately, nasty hypocrisy
is finally exposed and, of course, true love conquers all.
 |
| Fadographs June
5-June 28, 2009 Directed by Vincent OÕNeill Once
again, we follow the adventures of Humphrey Chimpden Earwicker, Anna Livia Plurabella,
their combative twins and seductive daughter. Like its predecessor, "Nightmaze,"
this ambitious adaptation is both humorous and poetic, suffused with the magical
language of Joyce.

| | The
remarkable growth and artistic success of the Irish Classical Theatre Company
is founded on its mission: "To present the greatest works of dramatic literature:
international classics; modern plays of exceptional merit; and Irish plays, both
traditional and contemporary. To produce them at the highest level of artistic
excellence for the public of Buffalo, Western New York and Southern Ontario, and
subsequently, for National and International audiences." The
seeds of the Irish Classical Theatre Company were planted in 1985 when two Dublin-born
brothers, internationally acclaimed actors and former members of Ireland's celebrated
Abbey Theatre, found themselves in Buffalo, performing Samuel Beckett's Waiting
for Godot in the dining room of a local hotel. They were enthusiastically embraced
by the Western New York audience and one of the brothers, the late Chris O'Neill,
was so taken with the extraordinary reception of the play that he resolved to
take up residence in Buffalo. Later, he persuaded his younger brother, Vincent,
to join him. The brothers, together with another Dubliner, Dr. James Warde, saw
an opportunity to present to Western New York and Southern Ontario. In
1990, they founded the Irish Classical Theatre Company, performing on various
rented stages until a permanent home was established at the Calumet Arts Cafe.
ICTC's glowing reputation for artistic excellence and community involvement soon
made it the fastest growing theatre company in the region and led to the building
of its new home, the Andrews Theatre, which opened its doors in January of 1999. Now
entering its 19th Season, the Irish Classical Theatre Company's international
roots are reflected not just by its choice of repertoire. Throughout its existence,
ICTC has invited internationally known artists to come to Buffalo to direct, appear
with and be honored by the Company. | Website:
