Arts Studio (BAS) is a not-for-profit arts organization whose mission is to provide
affordable studio space and regular public exposure for regional, national, and
international artists through exhibitions, and to enrich the community with art
classes, mural programs, and public art. Exhibitions, public art projects, and
classes help the studio serve as a cultural center. BAS
resides in a rehabilitated factory. In 2000, we expanded from 15,000 sq. ft. to
23,000 sq. ft. We currently have two galleries, shared and private office spaces,
community space w/ kitchen, a printmaking room, a darkroom, a ceramics classroom,
a kiln area, and semiprivate and private studios for 40 artists. Among other features,
we added ventilation systems, smoke detectors, fireproof rooms, new electric systems
and lights, halogen lighting systems for the galleries, steel doors, and panic
push bars. Gallery,
