In
1799, Asa Ransom, a silversmith was the first to take up the Holland Land Company's
offer to build and operate a tavern in the hollow. In 1853, the Asa Ransom House
was built on the site of Asa's log tavern. On
the grounds guests can view the ruins of the first gristmill in Erie County, also
built by Ransom. Visitors can enjoy a tour of the nine inn guest rooms and the
interesting herb and flower gardens outside. Website: http://www.asaransom.com/ |
