DESCRIPTIONS

IN-DEPTH TOURS
New! The Gardener's Cottage is open for tours!

In-depth Tours of the Martin House complex visit spaces not seen on the basic one-hour tour, including the Barton House (1903) and the Gardener's Cottage (1909.) In slightly under two-hours, these tours are unhurried so that you can absorb the ambience of the house and take time to appreciate the details. Your docent will expand on the Martin and Wright story to provide even greater context to the genius of this architectural masterpiece.

FOCUS TOUR
with master docent, Duane Churchill

$40/person/$35 for Martin House Associates.

Follow the signage to the Carriage House, which is where tour will gather. Rain or shine. Reservations required. Call 716-856-3858.

Your Focus Tour with master docent, Duane Churchill, will reveal how the Martin House is the creation of a brilliant architect and his client - a man whom, upon his passing, Wright referred to as Òhis best friend.Ó As an expert storyteller, Duane unravels Frank Lloyd Wright's genius in weaving a portrait of Darwin Martin into the fabric of the building. You will visit spaces in the Martin House complex that are not included on the basic tour, including the Barton House (1903) and the Gardener's Cottage (1909).

Children under 10 not permitted on this tour

Summer Twilights at Graycliff

The cares of the work-a-day world will drift away as you experience the tranquility of a Summer Twilight at Graycliff.  Frank Lloyd Wright imbued his design of Graycliff with what he called “repose”: the simplicity and calm of splendid architecture set amidst verdant acres of grounds on the brim of the lake. Graycliff’s rich history and architectural splendor, set against the serenity of Lake Erie, can be yours for a summer twilight. Listen to the sounds of the water lapping against the shore, the cool breeze rustling the tall old trees, the birds calling each to each.   Enjoy a leisurely guided tour, and relax with a glass of wine, coupled with a selection of cheeses and summer fruits as the rest of the world fades away into the twilight.
