The top rooms
of a solitary lighthouse become both refuge and battleground during the American
Civil War when a drowning man is saved from the Chesapeake Bay by a lighthouse
captain. Carrying the brand of traitor, one hides from the Confederate authorities
that would execute him, while the other hopes to go unnoticed by the Union army
in the passing struggle. Mistrust gives way to acceptance as two men vie
for dominance in a little round universe where the difference between controller
and controlled is less and less clear. THE SEABIRDS is the 2006 winner
of the Maxim Mazumdar New Play Competition. Suitable for adult audiences.

HOUSE BUFFALO is a faithful recreation of the hottest

first HELL HOUSE script in the mid 1970's and, claiming a 25-30% conversion/salvation
rate, the tool has been used in over 3,000 churches. Recently, however, the HELL

HOUSE BUFFALO confronts our most profound social problems including school violence,
gay marriage, AIDS, rape, premarital sex and abortion. Interpretation of
the validity of its message is left to the viewer. The Buffalo production
will combine state of the art multimedia, theatrical spectacle and live actors
to make the experience as vivid as possible. The ensemble of artists will feature
a rotating cast of "Guest Satans" including local celebrities.

 | ITALIAN
SERENADE book,
music and lyrics by Neal Radice
November
1-17, 2007
Thursdays
and Fridays at 7:30 PM, Saturdays at 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. World Premiere
Musical.
A warm and
lively new musical that celebrates the hopes and heartaches, failures and glorious
victories of the great immigration that led so many Italian families to call Western
New York home. The story begins in a small town in Southern Italy in the 1890s
when the death of a poor old man Giuseppe Natale, leads to a series of life changing
decisions for his newly married grandson Sebastiano. Mirroring the countless stories
of so many of Buffalo's Italian families, the road to America and a better life
is not an easy one, nor are American roads really paved in gold, but the Italian
knack for finding joy in even the littlest blessings eases the burdens of poverty
and bigotry. Parallels to today's issues regarding immigration are everywhere
in this full length musical production that captures the heart of a culture and
interweaves musical styles based on everything from Tarantella to grand opera
to jazz. Suitable for all ages.
ITALIAN
SERENADE stars Joseph (Joey) Giambra and features Mathew Mooney as Sebastiano
and Leah Schneider as his wife Caterina. Others in the cast include Wendy Hall,
Roger Van Dette, Stephanie Bax, Roger Griffiths, Katy Miner, Jacob Albarella,
Diane Cammaratta, Christopher S. Parada, Kathryn Foster, Joseph Laspro, Joyce
Cappolla, and Jackie Albarella. Choreography is by Kathie Ann Montante Prospero,
vocal music direction by Tom Doyle with sets and lighting by Neal Radice and costumes
by Joyce Stilson.
Tickets:
$24/general admission; $12/students. Available online at alleyway.com,
at the box office 45 minutes before each performance, or by phone with Visa/Mastercard
